Sekinchan is a small, cozy farming and fishing village just north of Kuala Lumpur. It has gotten extremely popular over the years with city slickers from KL heading over to enjoy the simpler things in life. It is well known for its mechanised farming methods and high yield of rice.
The ride to Sekinchan is scenic with oil palm trees along the coastal road, stalls selling handmade cotton pillows, eateries offering a wide variety of local delicacies, and suddenly, almost in the middle of nowhere, vast expanses of paddy fields bordering a stretch of fishing villages.
This small and peaceful town has a unique dual characters, It is both a fishing village as well as a rice producing area. Drive north along the main highway that cuts through the town and you will see vast expanses of paddy field on your right. Take the left turn when you reach town and you see a busy fishing port. This is an Interesting place.
I believe most of us have seen paddy field before. But, have you ever get close to it. In Sekinchan, you can drive right beside the paddy fields. There are roads connecting the town with the small village located (Site A) in the center of the paddy fields. Along the way, you will find water path (aqueduct), little bridge, birds, bird house, farmers and their giant machine. This is the main attraction in Sekinchan.

Wide View Of Paddy Field
The wide view of Paddy Field in Sekinchan show different feeling in different time. In the month of March and September are the rice transplanting period, the view of the paddy field is green. Calm and Busy Fishing Village
Before paddy plantation became popular in Sekinchan, villagers were active in fishing activities and this is still ongoing until today. The fishing village is called Bagan and is just a stone throw away from the town. There are about 300 fishing trawlers in Bagan. You can see a lot of fishing trawler park along the river at Bagan. Amazing Migratory Bird Watching
Malaysia still remains as one of the best destination for tropical rainforest bird life. Malaysia is geographically located in tropical climate zone and most of the territory is dominated by tropical rainforest. There are a large scale forest is countable, there are still some good birding spots in the peninsular Malaysia. Sekinchan is the one of the good place for birds spotting especially for migratory birds watching.
Sekinchan are a costal fishing village and also a large paddy field area where you are able to see open country birds. Particularly, winter months are worthwhile to visit.

The two main industries in Sekinchan are farming and fishing, these two industries are highly depend to the weather. The villagers always play for calm of ocean and rich in harvest. Redang Beach is a small beach in the coastal area, Redang beach is a windy beach, there is one small tributary near to the beach, this tributary is main access route for the fishing baot to go to the ocean. Sekinchan, which literally means “village suitable for plantation” in Chinese, lives up to its name as the town is the rice bowl of Selangor. Large plots of land are cultivated to produce the staple food of Malaysians. This area is well-known for its high yield of rice and mechanised farming methods.
